The Azhvar born in Thirukkoilur in the Pandya county. He was the disciple of Nammazhvar and has written about his devotion to his master in his songs. He is said to have served the cause of Vaishnavism for 50 years chiefly through explaining to people the greatness of Nammazhvar song,
