One of the Great composers of the Trinity. Syama Sasthri was born in Thiruvarur. His original name was Subramanian and was affectionately called Syamakrishnan. His family used to worship Bangarukamakshi Goddess of Kanchipuram. He has composed more than 300 kritis. He is famous for the use of Chittaswara sahityam and complicated talams. It is said that he has modernised the Ananda bhairavi raga.
