Krishnankutty, an ardent devotee of Guruvayurappan, wrote the majority of his popular songs as a personal encounter with Lord Krishna. Among the more than 2,500 Hindu devotional songs written by him for various albums were Oru Neramenkilum Kanathe Vayyente and Ashtami Rohini Naalil from the album Thulasi Theertham, Ayyappa devotional songs Udichuyarnnu Mamala Mele, Anayirangum Mamalayil, etc.Krishnankutty started his career as a lyricist for light music on All India Radio (AIR).
Songs were part of his devotion, rather than a creative or professional pursuit.According to renowned critic Ravi Menon, his lyrics were simple and emotional, and bonded emotionally with listeners.Krishnankutty has also directed a number of films, composing about 30 songs.In the film Thulavarsham, Swapnadanam Njan Thudarunnu wrote the first song for a film.
Krishnankutty got a chance to write the song because he wasn't available, according to Menon.Krishankuttys songs, according to noted lyricist Shibu Chakravarthy, have changed the meaning of devotional songs in Malayalam.Shibu said that besides devotional songs, he wrote many popular childrens songs, such as Ambaramutathodi Nadakkum, which had wonderful lyrics.Krishnankutty was a lyricist and screenwriter for the Malayalam films Prabhatasandhya, Sreeragam, Karpooradeepam, and Chaithanyam.
Krishnankutty has also produced many documentaries on well-known celebrities and written over 200 books.Krishnankutty was a recipient of numerous awards, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award and the state award for the best song in drama.Krishnankutty was born on July 11, 1936, in Chowallur Variyath, Thrissur, and was the vice-chairman of Kerala Kalamandalam.
