A contemporary composer of Carnatic music, she is the elder daughter of Papanasam Shivan. Many of her compositions are sung by popular singers and include songs such as tirupati malaimElE (yaman kalyaaNi), mAShil ayodiyil (rAmAyaNa tAlATTu), vElanE sivabAlanE (behAg), sOdanai seyyAde (ranjani, roopakam) and others. She is also the author of such books as "stuti maNi mAlai".
