Lawyer by profession, Ranga Iyer was a good orator and had a sound carnatic music knowledge. He was very much involved in spiritual matters and had bhakthi inculcated in him. He has composed many keerthanas about various deities and also about social causes. He is believed to have the custom of singing his compositions on all fridays. Sri.Chembai vaidhyanatha bhagavathar was a close family friend of Ranga Iyer's and had great respect for him. Ranga Iyer's sons - C.R.Balaviswanathan was a great flute player; - C.R.Ramaswamy Iyer was a medical practitioner serving the people in Thekkegramam, Chittur - His son Dr.C.R.Sesahdri was quite popular for his nama sankeerthanam/abhinaya divyanama bhajana.
