Maruthanallur Sadguru Swamigal is considered as one of the Guruthrayam, bhagavatha Trinity, along with Sri Bodhendra Swamigal and Sri Sridhara Venkatesa Ayyaval. Venkatarama Desikar was the initial name of Sadguru Swamigal. Sri Bodhendra Swamigal was the Guru (Manaseega) of Sri Sadguru Swamigal. It was Sri Sadguru Swamigal, who gave a format for the bhajana sampradaya. The sequence of songs that are to be sung during the bhajan was well formatted that it is followed even today without any deviation. Sadguru Swamigal travelled extensively throughout India and gathered many Keerthanas and Abangas of Various Avathara Purushas. He visualise the need for creating a National Integration and thus combined (Deva Bhasha) Sanskrit, (Pancha Bhasha) Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Marathi Languages in the Bhajana Schedule. King Saraboji was the Sishya of Sri Sadguru Swamigal. As Sadguru Swamigal had wished, King Saraboji took initiative in diverting the Veeracholan River towards Govindapuram, where the Jeeva Samadhi of Sri Bodendra Swamigal is located. The Maruthanallur Sadhguru Bhaktha Sabha is still very active in following the tradition established by their Guru.
