C.S.Subramanian (CS), hails from a family of Medical Doctors who were also musicians. His father was a famous physician of Palakkad, belonging to the frist batch from Stanley Medical College. CS had initial schooling at Chittur, Palakkad and later completed his MBA from UK. After a 10 year career in US in the software industry, he relocated back to Chennai and started the Offshore Development Center. He was the founder director of an IT Services company, Brij Datalink which is now known as Tychons. Currently CS is serving as COO of Datum Software Lab, Chennai.
CS had initial training in mridangam from Palakkad Sri.Chandrasekhara Menon, at the age of 12. CS had the great opportunity to accompany various visiting artistes during his stay in US during the 90s. By virtue of listening to his father C.R.Seshadri’s nama sankeerthanam and various carnatic concerts, he has improvised his ability to sing bhajans & devotional songs. CS has a strong passion to pen down lyrics in different languages like Sanskrit, Tamizh, Malayalam & Hindi, and set to different ragas. His Compositions include Keerthanas, Bhajans, Varnams, Thillanas and Namavalis. He has composed more than 600 songs. His rendition of most of these songs are now available in his own website, Facebook page & Youtube channel. During his stay in US, CS and his troupe 'Nadopasana' had produced 4 audio cassettes to raise funds for various good causes.
CS is the founder of New Age Multimedia Almanac (NAMA – www.nama.co.in ) with the intention of creating a virtual repository of the great composers and their compositions. The website contains more than 300 composers, starting from pre-Trinity to post-Trinity and more than 20000 compositions. CS & his wife Meera has been working on enriching this repository with lyrics in multiple languages, Audios and Videos.
www.chennaievent.com is also a brain-child of CS. More than 3000 Artistes of various Instrumentalists & Vocalists are enlisted. The performance of these Artistes in Chennai has been captured since late 2016. This website has the indexed listing of daily events happening in Chennai, which has nearly 1000 subscribers.
CS is currently leading group called Chaithanya Bhajana Mandali, along with his wife Meera and family members and they conduct Nama Sankeerthanam at many places in India & Abroad.
Meera was born and brought up in Trivandrum and did her schooling at Cotton Hill School before pursuing Bachelor of Arts from Womens College. Later she did Master of Music from University of Madras and M.Phil Music from Queen Marys College. Her maternal grandmother Smt. Maragathavalli was very instrumental in toning up Meera’s musical talent. She has learned under many eminent gurus from Trivandrum, such as Bhagavathy Ammal, G.Seethalakshmi, Vechur Sri. Harihara Subramania Iyer, Dr.Bhagyalakshmi and so on. She had her advanced lessons from Vidushi Smt.Suganda Kalamegam. Currently she is also learning from Smt.Geeta Sundaresan in Chennai. Meera, along with her husband C.S.Subramanian, has given several carnatic & devotional concerts. Meera is a graded artiste of All India Radio. Meera is teaching Carnatic vocal music to several youngsters and adults in Chennai and overseas. She is also the co-founder of www.nama.co.in that caters to the carnatic music domain. Meera is passionate about making simple to complex Kolams, which is one of the old time Art.
